Water Company's utility operations division. Suburban's network of well-maintained
facilities pump and distribute approximately 52,700 acre-feet of water
a year to more than 300,000 people in parts of Los Angeles and Orange
counties.

La Mirada (Whittier/La Mirada District)
One position only:
Mechanic I
Salary Grade C(N) $2,670 to $4,110
Mechanic II
Salary Grade D(N) $2,980 - $4,480
Primary Duties:
Responsible for being prepared to secure and/or correct defective, damaged
or leaking water facilities with appropriate equipment or safety supplies,
such as, but not limited to: barricades, safety cones, stakes and wood,
meter box tops, meter boxes. Responsible for preventive maintenance of
all pumping equipment, including: wells, booster pumps, cla-valves, and
electric motors under the supervision of a senior employee or supervisor.
Must be able to use a various tools and equipment, including: electric
metr, amp probe, timing light, tachometer, compression gauges, torque
wrenches and other related tools and equipment.
Responsible for professional and courteous customer contact,
both in person and over the phone, as well as timely completion and submission
of all forms and documents related to employment. Must follow all safety
guidelines and rules of both safety and vehicle committees.
Qualifications:
Mechanic I
High School Diploma or equivalent. Water Distribution Operator Grade D-1
certificate from the California Department of Health Services is required.
A minimum of one year of utility work experience is required.
Mechanic II
High School Diploma or equivalent. Water Distribution Operator Grade D-1
and Water Treatment Operator Grade T-1 certificate from the California
Department of Health Services is required. A minimum of three years employment
in a regulated utility industry, preferably water.
Other Requirements:
Must have a valid California Drivers License with an acceptable
driving record as determined by the Companys insurance carrier.

Primary Duties:
Responsible for accurately reading meters on assigned route and recording water usage, noting problems such as defects leaks and illegal connections for service. Also responsible for hanging 48-hour turn-off notices and locking meters for non-payment as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical. Valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Company’s insurance carrier is also required. One year general work experience desired; some water industry experience helpful.
